What is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?

Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT is a psychological acupressure technique used routinely with our clients and is highly recommended to improve your emotional health and well being. Your emotional health is essential to your physical health and healing– no matter how dedicated you are to proper diet and lifestyle. If the emotional barriers remain, you will not access your body’s healing and preventative powers.

The human body is a network of electrical circuits that run along a specific network of channels. These are your energy meridians.The Chinese discovered that by stimulating these meridians they could heal the human body. Instead of using needles, simple tapping with the fingertips is used on specific meridians on the upper body while focusing on a specific problem–whether it’s a specific event, a physical pain or a specific issue etc. While tapping,you voice the negative emotions you are feeling about your problem,you then switch to positive affirmations.

With the combination of tapping on the energy meridians, while voicing how you are feeling, this works to clear the emotional block from your body’s energy system. This will help to restore your body’s healing ability which is essential for optimal health and well being. As the human body is a mass of electrical circuits, imagine that Tapping or EFT is like repairing a short-circuit in your body.The unique thing about Tapping is that it is accessible to you, every day, all day. Since you apply the technique to your own body, the power to heal yourself is back in your own hands. You are in control.

Some forms of tapping can also be used additionally in an EMDR therapy session.
